Protein Biochemistry Laboratory
Our research group aims to research the plant developmental processes and how hormones coordinate these processes. Currently we are working with plant peptide hormones. The main focus of our projects is to understand how the rapid alkalinization factor (RALF) peptides work and what are their functions.
PATHOGEN RESPONSES
To investigate how RALF intermediates pathogen responses together with hormones.
DROUGHT STRESS RESPONSES
To investigate how RALF peptides interfere with hormones in response to drought stress.
DEVELOPMENT
To investigate how RALF peptides influence plant development.
ABOUT
The Protein Biochemistry Laboratory was funded in 2009. We are located at the Biotechnology Center (CEBTEC) at Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Piracicaba-SP). Currently we are seeking to answer questions regarding the functions and mechanisms behind the RALF peptides. To answer these questions the Protein Biochemistry Laboratory makes use of multidisciplinary approaches, which includes genetical, biochemical and molecular biology techniques and microscopy.
OPPORTUNITIES
Prospective students are always welcome. Our graduate students are engaged in the “Genetics and Plant Breeding”, “Plant Physiology and Biochemistry” or in the “Internacional Cellular and Molecular Plant Biology” programs.
